Life Cycle Assessment
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a methodology used to assess the environmental impacts of a product or system over its entire lifecycle.
This methodology is standardized in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards.
LCA is a key tool for eco-innovation enabling compagnies to identify the primary sources of environmental impact associated with their products and systems. It also provides a robust proof of these environmental impacts which can be used in communication.
Saint-Gobain Sekurit is using LCA since 2020 thanks to its dedicated internal Sustainability Team.
Environmental Product Declaration
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a public document verified by a third party and based on LCA results that provides information about the environmental impact of a product or system.
This document is standardized in accordance with ISO 21930 and EN15804+A2 standards.
It enables companies to differentiate themselves in the market by publishing transparent and verified information about the environmental impact of their products.
Saint-Gobain Sekurit released its first EPD in May 2023. This pioneering document was the first of its kind worldwide providing a comprehensive overview of the environmental impact of a glazing utilized in the automotive industry.

Our Actions
At Saint-Gobain Sekurit, we have a long-standing commitment towards sustainable development.
Weight and thermal management
We are actively working on making glass thinner and better. The reduction of weight results in a reduced power consumption of the vehicle. Our thermal management solutions are designed to ensure energy efficiency of the vehicle in summer and in winter, thereby increasing the range of electric vehicles and reducing the use of the HVAC system.
Zero waste
Our plant in Eslöv, Sweden took a bold step with its "zero waste" program that was launched in 2015 and achieved in 2019.
The plant identified nearby waste recovery and recycling service providers to make sure that no materials went to waste.
Rain collection
The Chennai plant in India was designed from the onset with features to support sustainability:100% of the roof rain water is collected to irrigate an urban forest and takes advantage of the monsoon season to store water, which is then used for the site's needs.
